Rock Skills: abseiling on single pitch routes (in progress)

In our latest entry of our Rock Skills series, we are going to look at how we can abseil safely while out on single pitch climbs.

When you descend down a rope while controlling your speed with a belay plate, you are abseiling.

This is a useful skill for getting stuck placements out of the rock, descending to the bottom of the climb, helping other climbers or checking out a harder route for gear placements.
