AIMS
We will equip you with the skills required for confident and competent hill walking in hill and moorland terrain under summer conditions.
PRE-REQUISITES
A suitable level of physical fitness for 2 days hill walking.
CONTENT
Navigation skills including the use in map, compass and electronic devices
Informed decision making in producing practical and achievable route plans
Understanding of weather
Dealing with an emergency and understanding the role of rescue organisations
Planning to avoid water hazards and how to deal with them on the hill
What clothing & equipment to take and how to use it.
WHAT WILL I NEED?
We only supply instruction for the course, it does not include transport or personal equipment. Your instructor will want to check that personal equipment is appropriate for the activity. Listed below are the essentials;
Waterproof jackets and trousers

Map information – we encourage everyone on Climb Devon summer navigation & skill courses to have a map covering Dartmoor National Park. OS map OL28 1:25 000 covers the areas we use and is the recommended map for our courses - other scales will be discussed on the course. Please ensure that this is a weather proof active map or you have a map case.
