NICAS LEVEL 4 — LEAD CLIMBER (Ages 13-17 | PART 1)

£315.00
sold out

Life at the sharp end! This level introduces you to lead climbing with all its attendant risks and required skills. Lead climbing steps the whole experience of climbing up a gear, with the possibility of a free fall always present. Candidates who gain this level should be capable of lead climbing competently and in control at most major lead climbing walls in the British Isles. Minimum performance grades are introduced, as a certain level of physical ability is required to lead safely on steep routes that are less likely to result in injury in case of a fall. Lead climbing carries higher risks and responsibilities for both climber and belayer, so this level has also been designed so that you must complete a set of pre-requisites before you move onto lead climbing. For simulated lead climbs, you must be on a top rope (or auto-belay) whilst practising the skills for lead climbing. For simulated lead belaying, the climber is on a top rope in addition to the lead rope. (Please note this level is split into two parts)

A NICAS Level 3 Certificate must be brought along to your first session to be able to participate in this course.

Part 1: 4 x 5 hour sessions – £210.00 / Part 2: pricing TBC
